The area of the 1999 map of Bosworth Park covered the woods around the lake and the park up to the car park. It was necessary to add the fields and new planting to create an event area that was (only just) big enough for a night league event. There was little of orienteering interest in the new extensions, but in the dark it was sufficient to vary the pace and tempt some into errors.
The event was promised to be dry, this turned out only to be correct from the waist up; the fields were very soggy and it was commented that the map should have shown the depth of the bogs!
It was nice to welcome orienteers from far afield. We have now had our two night league events this season but there are many night events to follow this winter in the midlands.
Thanks to all who turned up and realised my abition of running a night event where there were more runners than controls.
Cheers

this is not a very technical area. We will be running on Bruce Bryant's award

Starts are from Anstey Tennis Club just off the A46 (Western Distributor Rd) Anstey & Beaumont Leys turn off.
After the event the organisers and anyone else interested will be repairing to the Gynsills Hotel on the A50 near the A46 to put back those XS calories. To the best of our knowledge they will be serving food as usual.

This is a rapidly maturing area of new woodlands including several old pockets of old woodland and incorporates the historic Martinshaw Wood.
We are using electronic punching and operating within the new BOF guidelines and will be putting on courses from WHITE to BLACK including a purple for those less experienced runners wanting a good run without too much technicality.
