It was very pleasing to see a good turnout again at a summer league. The numbers have usually dropped in the past once the schools are off and the heat kicks (at last!).
My apologies to those who experienced the over zealous warden; we did have full permission and I'm sure that there was nothing to harm. There was certainly no damage done, as I checked all the main trails created through the long grass. The only evidence of our passing was this flattened grass which will quickly recover, and a lost map that I found between controls 4 and 5. Particular thanks to Maureen who spent valuable time placating the warden.
I was concerned at the possibility of vandalism, or disturbance to the controls, but apart from someone strangely relocating the wet boulders control onto the fence after the event, nothing was interfered with, and all remaining controls were able to be collected the next morning.
Thanks to everybody who came and made the event a success.
I'm sure the pub was happy with our use of their facilities, as most people stayed and socialised. If you enjoyed Heather why not visit their two events coming up soon. The scarecrow festival is a hoot, there were about seventy brilliant models last year. There is also the music festival over the weekend of the 26th-28th July which is definitely worth a listen.
