The event was advertised as John’s Lee Woods and Blakeshay. For those with long memories Blakeshay Woods are just to the north of Newtown Linford and has been used with Benscliffe Woods for a couple of events but not for many years. It has become available for use again and has benefited from some clearing of the areas that were bramble affected (think Benscliffe). However the road crossings between the new plantings that we used meant there would have been even more dead running, although we are hopeful that some more planting useful may happen. So apologies for those who were disappointed.
Another three or four years will make the new trees, (planted in 1996-1999) much more interesting. The routes were originally meant to have been better direct, but the last three weeks of growth meant that in all but two cases (blue 12-13 except for the quickest runners, and green 11-12) the quickest routes were around the blocks.
Many thanks to Mark for handling registration and Kevin for doing the electronics. Using the present electronics means that a PC and expert are necessary at the event. Kevin tried some new software ( Aut-O-Download) for the download process. If you didn’t notice, then that is great, if you did then please have a word as we need to check out any problems before it is used in anger.

to Run-In results to check how well you did on this new type of competition.
The results show your run-in time and also the effort you made (the increase
in running speed of your run in as compared to the total for the course). The
idea for this competition sprang from a recent HOC event at Lickey Hills and
online discussions at Nopesport where it was
stated that "the course is merely the warm up for the run-in"!!
These results also indicate the benefit of a longer warm-up!
