Organiser/Planner's Comments

The courses were designed to use the southern end on a newly revised map and make use of the new map for the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits centre. River crossings are limited so that the short courses had to use a far start or have some repetition if doing a loop on the east side of the river.

There were map printing problems and the clubs reserve printer was used but the print quality on the 15k map did cause competitors reading problems. It would have been better to use map scales of 10k for long and 7.5k for the short courses. The Watermead map set would benefit from having a frame for the southern area alone.

The Long course time was much longer than expected. I have re-measured the long course and it was about 400m longer, when allowing more carefully for the forced crossing points and the paths around the water features. In places the path Routes were much longer than the direct route.

We had the EMOA boxes programmed to BST (used as far start box) and LEI boxes at GMT, so that download total time was not available for those using the far start. You cannot have a start time after you finished!

I swapped two boxes over 213 and 186 and the results attempt to adjust for any confusion caused, especially the younger competitors.

We had one incident and one competitor need a number of stitches to fix a head wound.
