Planners Comments
After a number of problems leading up to today's event, the weather more than made up for any downsides. Attendance was very reasonable, for an urban event and I hope you all went home feeling that you'd had your moneys worth from Quorn.
Quorn wasn't so easy to plan as the current mapped area is quite petite. It proved necessary to have back-to-back maps for the three longest courses to avoid a spiders web of lines. Nonetheless we managed to pack the longest course, Mens Open, into the area.
You may have noticed that we were not able to utilise the playing fields, there was a rather large football tournament planed for that day and that provided the last of our logistical problems. We didn't plan to have orienteers walking through the competition area, but as we had lost the original car park, there was no alternative. I'm sure you didn't look at any of the controls as you passed to Registration! I also had to alter the Start arrangement from that which I had originally planned, but I feel this worked OK, perhaps even better!
Finally thanks go to Chris Phillips (Organiser) and his team for a seamless day, despite last minute issues, but I must particularly pass my sincere thanks to Roger Phillips (Controller). Roger is extremely thorough and it is through his attention to each planned leg that you ended up with improved courses.
