Event Details

MapRun: The control sites have no visible controls. Instead the Start, Finish and all control sites are identified by a GPS signal on your phone. The signal can be received within a few metres of the feature marked on your map. Advice and assistance will be available for anyone new to MapRun.

App: All participants need a smart phone or watch with the MapRun or MapRunG App. Download App.

Register: Please use the form below by Monday evening to book a map. Please pay, in cash, at the event or by direct transfer into the Clubs bank account. The map will be published on Maprun site in advance so you can download your course beforehand.
MapRun folder: Leicestershire/Castle Hill/Castle Hill 2024 xxxxx.

Meet: In the car park next to the Pharmacist on Astill Lodge Road. Click google maps.

Start: Will be inside the park. Do not tap Go to Start until you are ready to go.

Terrrain: Mainly in the park, but the Long and Medium courses include urban areas.
The wet and warm summer has resulted in much of the rough open is slow running, having very long growth. Also nettles at edges to woodland.

Courses: Suitable for newcomers as well as experienced orienteers.

Courses Close: 7.45pm (sunset: 7.30pm). So a torch is advised, if you are a late starter.

Map scale: 1:7500 on an A4

Safety: A risk assessment has been carried out by the Organiser and all reasonable care has been taken to ensure the safety of competitors. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.

Privacy & Personal Data: When entering events your personal details (name, age, gender, club) will appear in the results section on this website. It may also be used to contact you regarding this event including to trace missing runners and hired SI cards.
